Friday 29th March We were so proud of the children in all of their performances.  They did such a great job! Thank you for coming and supporting the children in learning their words.  We hope that you have a good Easter break. This week at school we have been learning how and why Christians celebrate Easter.  We started from the point of view of the children.  We introduced the concept of "sadness turning into happiness".  The children discussed times when they had been sad and the things that had made them happy again.  We then read the Easter story and discussed how Christians feel sad on Good Friday and then celebrate on Easter Sunday. Phonics This week in Phonics we have revisited alternative graphemes for  "ear" and "air" these are "ere" (as in here), "eer" (as in cheer) and "ear"(as in bear) and "are" (as in square).  It would be great if you could practise these sounds using the games on Bug club and by read

We were really proud of the way that the children participated sensibly on the trip. The children wrote some fabulous recounts of their trips on their return to school.   Friday 8th March This week we had a great visit from the RNLI.  They taught us how to keep safe at the beach and near water. In English, we have been writing letters from the point of view of a passenger on the Titanic, explaining the sorts of activities we would have liked to do on board ship.  We did a great job of our letters and used time adverbials (such as first, next, after that and finally) and adjectives to extend our ideas. We enjoyed spending our World Book Day vouchers at Waterstones. We hope you enjoy sharing the book your child chose.  Thank you to the adults who volunteered to accompany us.  We really appreciate your help. Maths   In Maths this week we have been using equipment such as Numicon and Dienes to make 2 digit numbers.  We practised adding and subtracting ten to 2 digit numbers.  You might like to practise making 2 digit numbers with tens and units using the games below. https://ictgames.com/sharkNumbers/mobile/index.html https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-t

Friday 1st March This week at school we have been learning about the Titanic's journey across the Atlantic Ocean.  In English, we learnt to use time adverbials e.g. " first", "next", "after that" and " finally"  to sequence events.   We learnt about the amazing facilities on the Titanic and used adjectives to describe them. In Geography we learnt about St David's Day (which is on the 1st March) and the traditions associated with it.  We located Wales and Cardiff on a map of the United Kingdom and recapped the names of the other countries that make up the United Kingdom. World Book Day - Thursday 7th March We have been invited by Waterstones in Whiteley to visit them to spend our world book day voucher and listen to a story.  We will be walking to Whiteley Village so when thinking about a costume, please could you take this into consideration! Your child will need to wear a coat and comfortable shoes.   If you can spare an hour and a hal
