Friday 29th September In science this week we have been learning that animals need food to survive, and that it gives them energy to move and material to grow. The children have learned that all animals are different and so eat different foods. Some only eat plants (herbivores), some eat other animals (carnivores) and some eat both (omnivores).  A predator is an animal that hunts, kills and eats other animals. Prey is an animal that is hunted and killed by another for food.    The children have used this information and vocabulary to make a simple food chain.                                           Food chain video Phonics We have started work on Phase 5 phonics. Reading Challenge This week we are sending home the first part of the Year One reading challenge.  The aim of this challenge is to increase your child's confidence and fluency through regular daily reading at home.  Please record only one book for each day on the card - although of course if your child would like to read more that would be great! At the end of each part of the challenge your child will receive a special pin badge to wear on their school jumper.
