Friday 20th October

This week we had a super visit from Zoo Lab.  We learnt how different animals use their senses to find food and escape from predators. We also started our science longitudinal study - finding out how the animals living in the pond change throughout the year.

PE Kits
The children will be bringing their PE kits home on Friday.  Please could you check that it all fits your child and also that they have the following;
trainers (with velcro) or plimsolls
house team coloured t-shirt
Shorts
Track suit bottoms/leggings
Jumper/hoodie

Reading challenge
As soon as your child finishes the first part of the reading challenge please bring the orange reading card into school and we can celebrate their achievement in class.  We are noticing such a difference in the reading fluency of children who are reading regularly at home.  Please remember to only record one read a day on the challenge card as the aim of the challenge is to encourage regular daily reading.
Thank you!
Maths
This week in Maths, we have been representing subtraction stories as number sentences and part whole models.

Phonics
In Phonics this week we have been learning the alternative grapheme-phoneme correspondences for "igh".
These are
ie, i_e, y and i.
We have learnt the tricky words "water" and "where".
You might like to use the Bug Club games to practise these sounds.
If you click on the links below you can see the action that the children have learnt for each sound.

Thank you for your support this half term.
