Friday 29th September

In science this week we have been learning that animals need food to survive, and that it gives them energy to move and material to grow. The children have learned that all animals are different and so eat different foods. Some only eat plants (herbivores), some eat other animals (carnivores) and some eat both (omnivores).

A predator is an animal that hunts, kills and eats other animals.

Prey is an animal that is hunted and killed by another for food.

The children have used this information and vocabulary to make a simple food chain.

Phonics

We have started work on Phase 5 phonics. This week we have learnt about the wh (w) and ph (f) digraphs.

Can your child/ren remember the sounds and actions?

The wh and ph Bug Club games have been allocated for you to play together at home.

Please remember these games can count towards your child's reading challenge, so can be recorded on their orange card.

Maths

This week we have explored number bonds and have use part part whole models to record number bonds.

You may like to watch this video to revisit this learning by watching the following video.

NEXT WEEK WE WILL BE WORKING WITH COINS.

Please spend some time looking at coins with your child to help them recognise them. You could discuss the size, shape, colour and value.

Please could you send into school any conkers, pine cones and acorns!

Please let us know if you are able to come into school to support one to one reading.
