Friday 12th June

We are very short of volunteers to support us with our Geography and Science fieldwork  when we walk to the park.  1B and 1R have not yet had any offers of help.  Please let your child's class teacher know if you are able to support this trip.

Monday 22nd June from 9 till 12pm - 1B

Wednesday 24th June from 9 till 12pm - 1J

Thursday 25th June from 9 till 12 pm - 1R

Many thanks

English
This week we wrote captions to describe pictures from the Jack and the Beanstalk story.  We focused on using capital letters, full stops and finger spaces appropriately.
This week we also drew our own story plan to help us to write our own version of Jack and the Beanstalk next week.

National Phonic Screening Check

The children completed their National Phonic Screening checks this week at school.  You will find out the outcome in your child's report in July.

Maths

In Maths this week we have been learning to use our number bonds to help us to solve other problems e.g. 8 + 2 + _ = 18

We used part whole models to help us visualise the problem and our numberbonds to 10 knowledge to support our calculations i.e. if we know 8 + 2 is 10 how many more do we need to make 18?

Quite a few children are still finding quick recall of their number bonds to ten a bit tricky! It would be great if you could practise these at home.  You might like to download the free White Rose maths app to practise number bonds to ten and then to 20 if your child is secure.
Thank you!
Design Technology
This week we designed and then made our own moving pictures to illustrate the Jack and the Beanstalk story.  We used levers and sliders in our pictures.

Reading Challenge

Don't forget to let us know when your child has completed the next part of their reading challenge. It's not too late to get your bronze, silver or gold badges.  Lots of children have started to collect their special book from Mrs Pennington for completing the Super Star challenge.
