 Friday 26th June Its been a hot week at school but the children have been superstars coping with the heat.  We have enjoyed having our outdoor classroom in the woodland area in the shade. Geography Although our walk to the park was cancelled because of the heat we have used this to support our learning objective for how we can change our local park to make it better suited to extreme heat! We drew plans of the park that we would like to see. Reading Logs The children will be given new reading logs in September.  Please keep reading throughout the summer and adding to the reading challenge cards.  These can still be brought into school in September to exchange for badges and books.   Maths In Maths this week we have learnt how to find a quarter of shapes and amounts of objects.  We used bar models and part whole models to record our working.     Friday 19th June Trip to the park Next week, please can you ensure that your child wears comfortable shoes and brings a sunhat and a raincoat for their trip to the park . morning.  Please can you also apply sunscreen to your child before school. We used Google maps to discuss the human and physical features in our local area and beyond.  We zoomed into our school from a world satellite map and discussed the features that we could see.  We identified our local park (Meadowside) on the map and looked at the route we needed to take to get there.  We drew our own maps of the route which we will follow next week to get to the park. This week we also drew our own story plan to help us to write our own version of Jack and the Beanstalk next week.
