Friday 22nd May

As part of our Geography map work and science learning next half term, we will be visiting the Meadowside Park in Whiteley.  We would appreciate any parent or grandparent volunteers who could accompany us.  Please let your child's class teacher know if you are able to support this trip.

Monday 22nd June from 9 till 12pm - 1B

Wednesday 24th June from 9 till 12pm - 1J

Thursday 25th June from 9 till 12 pm - 1R

Many thanks

Science

This term we drew careful observational drawings of plants from around our school.  We discussed the parts of the plant (stem, roots, leaves and flower) and what they do to help the plant survive.  You can see some of 1J's drawings above.

This week we revisited our science longitudinal study and looked at the animals in the pond.  We found out how the animals in the pond have changed now that spring is here.

Phonics

The National Phonics Screening check is only 2 weeks away now! We are nearly there!
Thank you for your work at home with your child in practising reading real and "alien" words.  We are really noticing an increase in the reading confidence of children who are practising these at home.
Please can you continue to practise reading real and "alien" words.  This week we have sent some extra sheets on white paper and a read and roll game to look at with your child over half term.

Maths
In Maths this week we learnt about the names and properties of 2-D and 3-D shapes

We hope that your child enjoys their half term break from school.

If you have any bedding plants you are happy to donate, we would love to use them in our outdoor classroom.

We are also looking for a wooden garage as ours is now broken. If you have anything like the picture below we would love to add it to our outdoor classroom.

Next term in Design Technology we will be looking at how pop up books use levers and  sliders .  If you have any books that we could read to the class which have levers and sliders, we would be very grateful.
Thank you for your support this term.
