Friday 15th May

English

In English this week, we followed instructions to make clay pots which we will plant up with seeds to take home when they have been fired in the kiln.

We wrote our own instructions for making our pots using imperative (bossy!) verbs e.g. "get" and "make" and time adverbials e.g. "first", "next" and "after that".

Maths

In Maths this week we have practised halving groups of objects.  We used bar models and part whole models to record our working.

Phonics
In Phonics this week we have been revisiting reading and spelling words with the split digraphs "a_e", "e_e" and "i_e".

The National Phonics Screening check is only 2 weeks away now! We are nearly there!

Thank you for your work at home with your child in practising reading real and "alien" words.  We are really noticing an increase in the reading confidence of children who are practising these at home.

Please can you continue to practise reading the real and "alien" words on the orange sheet sent home with your child each week.

Junk modelling
The children are being really creative with their junk modelling during their child initiated learning time.  If you have any cardboard boxes or tubes, please could you put them in the big box outside Class 1J.
Thank you!
