  Friday 25th October This week we have started our longitudinal science project to find out if the animals that live in the pond change throughout the seasons.  We will go pond dipping in the autumn, winter, spring and summer and find out about the animals that live in the pond.  The most common animal that we found in the pond in the autumn was a dragonfly nymph. Phonics This week at school we have continued learning our new Phase 5 sounds and tricky words.  Please can we ask that you make sure that you read the allocated Bug Club book this week with your child to practise the new digraphs "ea", "e_e", "ey", "ie" and "y" and new tricky words 'called', 'asked' and 'looked'.  This makes such a difference to how your child remembers and applies this new learning in class.  Thank you! Friday 18th October This week at school, as part of our science learning, we have started to find out how animals use their senses to survive. We have used our own senses to explore activities in the outdoor classroom.  We identified food stuffs using our sense of smell and learnt how our sense of smell protects us from eating foods that have gone bad.  We made and explored different sizes of ear trumpet to find out how they changed the volume of sound that we heard.     On Wednesday we had a super visit from Zoo Lab.  We learnt how different animals use their senses to find food and escape from predators. Try the games below 1 more game adding to 10 game Phonics In Phonics this week we have spent our last week consolidating Phase 4 Phonics - words with adjacent consonants and phase 4 tricky words. Next week we will be starting to learn the new Phase 5 digraphs wh and ph.  Thank you for working on the reading challenge at home with your child.  We are noticing such a difference in the confidence of the children who are reading each day at home.
