Welcome back!

We hope you had a great summer. It has been so lovely to see everyone happily back at school.
We are so pleased with how well the children have settled.

This week we have introduced the children to new year 1 routines.
We have also explored the 5 basic rights set out in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This forms part of our 'Rights and Respect Education' (RRE).
We have found out about the basic rights that all children have- food, shelter, water, family and play.

This week we have read with each child and sent home a reading book and their reading logs. Each week we will change books on a Tuesday and Friday, and update reading logs each week. We ask that the children start to change books independently so please send them in with their book in their hand. Please keep reading logs in your child's bag every day. We will also allocate your child a book on Bug Club to read each week that will practice the phonic sounds taught that week.

If you have any books from year R that you didn't get chance to return, please can you send them in this week. Thank you.

Reminders

-Please can we ask that your child has their P.E kit in school and that everything is named.

- Please can you teach your child to dress and undress independently and ensure your child is wearing clothes that can be easily taken off and on for PE on Wednesday and Fridays.

-Please could you also clearly name coats, jumpers, water bottles and lunchboxes with your child's full name.

-Please make sure your child brings a coat to school every day.

We look forward to getting to know your children and your families. If you have any questions please email us: year1@whiteleyapps.com
