Walk to the park
As part of our Geography learning this term we will be drawing and following maps to Meadowside park, recognising human and physical features in the local area and thinking about how we could change our local park to make it better for a particular season.
If you are able to support us by coming on this trip, we would love  to have you.  The trip will last 2 hours and will leave at about 9.15am.
Please let your child's class teacher know if you can help.

Thank you!

This week at school we have started our Design Technology learning.  We looked at books with moving parts and learnt how to make our own moving pictures with levers and sliders.

In Music we performed the story of Jack and the Beanstalk using the xylophones to change the pitch as Jack goes up and down the beanstalk.   We thought about dynamics (volume) using the drums for the giant's footsteps and the bells for the magical beanstalk.

In Computing we have started to visit the computer suite again.  This term we are learning to use the keyboard to type our names and simple sentences using spaces between words, capital letters and full stops.  We are using Microsoft word to do this.  Half the class will visit the computer suite each week.

The children completed their National Phonic Screening checks this week at school.  You will find out the outcome in your child's report in July.

Maths

In Maths this week we have been learning to use our number bonds to help us to solve other problems e.g. 8 + 2 + _ = 18

We used part whole models to help us visualise the problem and our numberbonds to 10 knowledge to support our calculations i.e. if we know 8 + 2 is 10 how many more do we need to make 18?

Quite a few children are still finding quick recall of their number bonds to ten a bit tricky! It would be great if you could practise these at home.  You might like to download the free White Rose maths app to practise number bonds to ten and then to 20 if your child is secure.
Thank you!

Reading Challenge

Don't forget to let us know when your child has completed the next part of their reading challenge. It's not too late to get your bronze, silver or gold badges.  Lots of children have started to collect their special book from Mrs Pennington for completing the Super Star challenge.
