Friday 14th March
In English, we have been writing letters from the point of view of a passenger on the Titanic, explaining the sorts of activities we would have liked to do on board ship. We did a great job of our letters and used time adverbials (such as first, next, after that and finally) and adjectives to extend our ideas.
In Geography we learnt about St Patrick's Day (which is on the 17th March) and the traditions associated with it. We located Northern Ireland and Belfast on a map of the United Kingdom and recapped the names of the other countries that make up the United Kingdom.
Maths
In Maths this week we have been using equipment such as Numicon and Dienes to make 2 digit numbers. We practised adding and subtracting ten to 2 digit numbers. You might like to practise making 2 digit numbers with tens and units using the games below.
Phonics
In Phonics this week we have continued to revisit our Phase 5 graphemes to develop our confidence in reading and writing words with these sounds. This week we have revisited alternative graphemes for the "oi" and "ow" digraphs. These are "oy" and "ou".
You might like to play the games on Bug club which practise these sounds.
This week's books to read on Bug Club to practise the sounds above are
At the Toy Shop and The Trout Fishing Song
