Friday 8th November
Friday 8th November
We have really enjoyed our history learning this week about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot.
We have learnt a rhyme to help us remember the eventful day in 1605. Can your child remember it?
You may enjoy watching and discussing the videos together at home.
Phonics
In phonics we have learnt the alternative graphemes for igh (light).
(ie (pie), i-e (pipe), y (sky), i (child).
Please can we ask that you make sure that you read the allocated Bug Club book this week with your child to practise the new digraphs and new tricky words 'water' and 'where'. This makes such a difference to how your child remembers and applies this new learning in class. Please see the sticker in your child's reading log for the name of the book to read.
Thank you
We have also allocated some games on Bug Club to practise reading and spelling words with these sounds.
Maths
We have explored odd and even numbers and have been counting in steps of 2. We have been singing a lovely song to help us!
You may like to use socks, gloves, shoes to put into pairs to count in 2s?
You may also like to follow the link to play Whack a mole on ICT games.
Next week we will be learning about the Hindu faith and the festival of Divali. There will also be Phonics stay and play sessions on 12th and 14th November.
